My Favorite Bible Quotes

1 John 4, 15-21

If anyone recognizes that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he dwells in God.  This is how we came to know the love that God has for us, and we believe in it. God is love: he who dwells in love dwells in God and God is with him.  Our love is perfect as we confidently look forward to the day of judgment, because we live in this world according to the example of Christ. Love leaves no room for fear.  Perfect love casts out fear, for fear is punishment, and he who fears is not matured in love.  We love because He first loved us.  But if someone says that he loves God while he hates his brother, he is a liar. For if he does not love his brother whom he sees, he cannot love God whom he has never seen.  We have therefore received this commandment from Him: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

John 1, 1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  2This was in the beginning with God.  3All things have become through Him, and without Him nothing has become of what has become.  4In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.  5And the light shines in the darkness, but the darkness did not receive it.

Jeremiah 29, 11-14

My plan for you is established - declares the Lord. I envisage your happiness, not your misfortune: I will give you a hopeful future. You will call on Me and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and you will find Me, if you seek Me with all your heart and soul. I will let you find Myself - declares the Lord - and I will restore your fate.

3 Corinthians 4, 8-10

Three times have I called upon the Lord to depart from me. But He answered me: “My grace is enough for you. Strength becomes perfect in weakness.” So I will rather boast of my weaknesses. Then the power of Christ will dwell in me. Therefore, for Christ's sake, I gladly suffer weakness, reproach, need, persecution, and distress. Because when I'm weak, then I'm strong.

Ephesians 6, 11-17

Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the evil spirits in heaven,  13Seizes therefore to the armor of God; then you can resist in the day of terror and stand, fighting to the end.  14Stand therefore, having your loins girded with truth, clothed in the breastplate of righteousness,  15th feet shod with zeal for the gospel of peace.  16Use the great shield of faith, with which you can quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.  17Take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.

Matthew 5, 1-12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,

and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

He began to teach them, saying:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Psalm 24, 1-2

 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

or he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

Joshua 10, 12-14

On that day, when the LORD delivered the Amorites to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD and said in the presence of the Israelites, "Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and you, moon, at the valley of Aijalon."  13And the sun was still and the moon stood still, while the people punished their enemy. Is it not so written in the Book of the Just? The sun remained in the middle of the sky and did not hurry to set, for about a whole day.  14Never before or since has there ever been a day when the LORD has listened to the voice of man like this. Surely it was Yahweh who fought for Israel.

Psalms 104, 1-4

Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, how great are You. You are clothed with splendor and glory, wrapped in a robe of light. You stretch out the heavens like a canvas and build Your great halls on the waters, You make the clouds Your chariot and move on the wings of the wind, You make the winds Your messengers of flaming fire Your servants. Thou hast established the earth upon pillars, It shall not be shaken for ever. The primordial sea covered it like a garment, and the waters were over the mountains.

Matthew 5, 34-37

But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.
